RPA can be categorised into three types according to how the bot is triggered, whether a human operator is needed to initiate the tasks: Unattended RPA, Attended RPA and Hybrid RPA.
Attended
Attended RPA is triggered by the user as needed, or finish a partially automated operation using attended RPA, it can be used as virtual assistant or support human decision makers. These are required in situations where human error detection is inadequate and programmatic solutions are required. It enables human operators to create procedures that decrease manual labour, improve operational accuracy, and maximise the user's total work.
For instance, before speaking with a human agent, a customer service centre may have 2–3 automated recorded stages. As a result, the RPA is able to filter the funnel down to the appropriate customer support representative, allowing the consumer to receive a quicker answer.
Unattended
Unattended RPA interacts directly with computer systems to perform a business process from start to finish without human involvement, it typically requires high-quality structured data and clearly defined rules.
Unattended RPA is solely operated by bots. The bots are given a level of logical reasoning so that they may make judgments without human assistance. The bots work in batches and on a defined timetable, while the cloud and data processes run in the background. This form of automation is primarily used in the back office.
When a user fills out a registration form in the financial business, for example, the unattended RPA may automatically recognise the information from the registration form. It may then finish the KYC verification and complete the customer's first onboarding by verifying the details from the specified databases.
Hybrid
A hybrid RPA approach employs both bots and people to work together for front and back offices and is considered the most effective means of optimising and automating any process. It allows them to focus on their strengths and create a completely optimised process that balances quality and quantity.
